Hedley's Launches Contemporary Art Department
Hedley's is delighted to announce the launch of its contemporary art department, created to better serve our customers in the specialised handling of art, sculpture, design objects and installations.
The new department, offering a complete 360 degree personalised service, reflects the growing number of private collectors, galleries, artists and auction house clients now using Hedley’s wider logistics services.
Steve Hedley still runs the family business he started some 40 years ago, offering a careful management of export/import shipping, air and road transport, acclimatised storage, bonded warehousing and white glove delivery together with door-to-door services to remote destinations. Particularly, it is the weekly, flexible shuttle services to France/EU and the rest of England that are currently proving very popular.
We are delighted to welcome back on board Ellie Bailey after more than ten years. She has just joined us from another specialist logistics company to become the Head of our Contemporary Art Department.
Ellie has some 15 years shipping and corporate relocation experience, 11 of which gained by working within the fine art and antique industries. She stated: "I am very happy to be back at Hedley's after so long. I have worked on shipments for various Royal families, dignitaries and high profile clients so am comfortable handling the sensitive relationships with gallery owners, art collectors and celebrities. I am really looking forward to working with the team at Hedley's again to build up our work in this growing sector".
Ellie is not just a shipping expert; she graduated from the University of the Arts and was originally a figurative painter but now tends to focus more on print and time-based media. Her favourite art genre is Conceptualism.
Hedley’s CEO Steve Hedley added: “We have invested considerably in our Fine Art Department over the last year. We have reconfigured our warehousing to better manage inward and outward movement of art together with a viewing and photographing space within our centrally located bonded warehousing. Our trucks offer climate control and have been modified to carry paintings with air ride suspension and we made a huge investment in our staff, providing best practices and art handling training to the warehouse team. Ellie is one of a growing team of art specialists we have been bringing on board over the last year as we move forward to re-brand Hedley's and re-define our offer to galleries, artists, institutions and auction houses.”
